Getting over Life’s Difficulties
We all have our share of difficulties in life. It is normal for human beings to experience problems, obstacles and challenges day after day. Every individual has his own way of coping through life’s difficulties. To an optimist, difficulties are there to shape and mold every person towards becoming stronger and successful in life. But, to a person who sees these challenges as reasons for him to give up on his goals in life he will never be able to experience God’s real purpose for giving us these challenges.
Challenges as vehicles towards success
Many people succeed because they positively view life’s challenges as vehicles towards achieving their goals in life. On the other hand, some people are not able to experience success because they easily give up on their endeavors. Once they see some challenges, they immediately look for a way out and away from these challenges. If we truly wanted to succeed in life, we must face these difficulties and challenges head on. But, it is also important to remember that once we have learned to overcome the first challenge, we must look forward to more obstacles and even more difficult challenges that await us. But, rest assured that all these obstacles will lead to the road of success. All these obstacles that we were able to overcome will make us stronger as we continue to move forward with our lives. “For I know the plans I have for you , declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. - Jeremiah 29:11”.
Looking back with gratitude
Instead of feeling so bitter about all the pain, sorrow and problems that one face in his journey through life, he must be thankful for all of these. It is through these negative experiences that we get to appreciate even more how wonderful life is. All these problems give us lessons to learn on and help us grow and lead lives anchored on wisdom and strength. Many people suffer from too much stress and anxiety because they keep on looking at the negative side of these difficulties. As Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” There are those whose ability to solve problems fade away because they allow complaints and bitterness to reside in them. But, if we would only try to always look back with gratitude for all the things that have happened in our lives then we would realize that we have so much to be thankful for. We should be thankful even for those things and events which seem bad for us. According to Romans 8:28, all things work together for good to those who love God. This verse must serve as our daily guide in how we see the daily happenings in our lives.
Looking forward with fortitude
As mentioned earlier, life’s challenges are meant to shape us into a better person someday. But, how do we overcome these obstacles? We should never give up easily. We all know that those who have reached the pedestal of success are those people who never had the words “give up” written in their personal vocabulary. They are the kinds of people who refuse to give up despite being hurt and wounded many times. Those who succeed are the ones who persevered no matter how hard the going may be. They always see to it that when times get tough, they will always come out tougher than their difficulties in life. As Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me”. With this verse in mind, no doubt every difficulty that we encounter becomes surmountable.
Life’s difficulties may occur when we are on the verge of achieving what we want in life. But, never let these difficulties discourage us. Never allow yourself to wallow in stress and anxiety just because you are having these problems in life. Always remember what Philippians 4:19 says- God will supply every need of yours according His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
